OUR MISSION

Our mission is to accelerate the transition to a circular economy and to build a future where no plastic waste ends up in nature.

We aspire to operate at the epicenters of the plastic crisis, working hand in hand with sustainable businesses around the world to achieve measurable impact. We encourage the elimination of unnecessary plastic while providing opportunities to enable a circular economy through prevention, reuse, substitution and recycling to avoid plastic waste from leakage into nature.

OUR STORY

The United Nations Environment Programme reports that about 400 million metric tons of plastic waste are produced each year, with an estimated 10 million metric tons ending up in the ocean.

In the face of this enormous crisis, Plastic Credit Exchange (PCX) was established in 2019 in the Philippines - one of the epicenters of the plastic pollution crisis. PCX is the world’s first fully integrated and blockchain-protected plastic offset program that offers brands a way to achieve their sustainability goals by showing them that there is an effective, achievable way to clean up their plastic waste.

In 2022, our vision to accelerate impact led to the creation of PCX Markets. This global platform empowers purchasers to select credits from a wide range of projects, including community-based collection programs in Thailand, recycling operations in India, and more, all accredited through PCX or Verra standards.

OUR IMPACT

PCX has enabled more than 32,000 Metric Tons of plastic waste to be cleaned up and invested over US$2.7 million to support new plastic waste collection capacity and other circular economy initiatives. In addition, many projects directly empower communities with socio-economic lift and cleaner living environments.

All credits sold have received PCX’s well-established and publicly available Plastic Pollution Reduction Standard (PPRS) accreditation, which was the first of its kind when it was launched in March 2020.

WHERE WE OPERATE

We’re starting at the epicenter of it all, focusing on countries hit worst by the plastic pollution crisis. From offices in the Philippines, the United States, and Singapore, we intend to expand cleanup operations to the top 10 most plastic polluted countries in the world.
