PCX Diverts 100 Million KG of Plastic Waste!

We’re excited to announce that PCX Markets, together with our partners, have surpassed a major milestone—diverting more than 100 million kilograms of mixed plastic waste from nature! That's equivalent to 6.6 billion 15-gram plastic bottles, enough to circle the earth 25 times.
“We’re inspired by our mission-driven project partners, who are delivering environmental and social impact in communities that have been hardest hit by the plastic waste crisis, and by the brands who’ve chosen to tackle this urgent issue,” said Sebastian DiGrande, CEO of PCX Markets.
With ten new projects added this year, our marketplace now supports 34 projects in 11 countries. As global efforts intensify, we’re proud to lead the way in creating real, lasting impact.
“We are on the cusp of historic change. The UN’s work on a global treaty has created a shared awareness that we must move quickly to tackle this crisis," said PCX Founder Nanette Medved-Po.
Thank you to our partners for making this possible—together, we can be the generation that ends the plastic waste crisis!
The World Bank Spotlights the Role Plastic Credits can Play in the Fight Against Plastic Pollution

The World Bank has released a comprehensive report about plastic credits as a vital tool in combating plastic pollution. The report highlights how plastic crediting can connect public and private sector finance to specific initiatives that address plastic pollution. By quantifying and certifying these efforts, plastic credits enable organizations to support projects contributing to a circular economy.
The report outlines several key benefits of plastic crediting, including increased funding for plastic waste management projects, enhanced accountability and transparency in waste reduction efforts, and the promotion of sustainable practices. It also acknowledges the challenges faced by this emerging sector, such as the need for standardized definitions, the risk of greenwashing, and the importance of strong governance.
Importantly, the World Bank emphasizes that plastic credits should complement, not replace, broader waste management investments and policies—a perspective that aligns with PCX's approach to tackling plastic pollution.
