PCX Honors 16 PH Firms Leading the Charge Against Plastic Waste

PCX Markets recently convened its PULSE event, recognizing 16 Philippine organizations that have pledged to achieve 100% recovery of their plastic footprint by 2025—a milestone that signals growing private sector leadership in responsible production and sustainability.

The recognition comes amid an escalating global plastic crisis. From everyday packaging to industrial waste, more than 9 billion tons of plastic have been produced worldwide—far beyond what the planet can sustainably absorb. Of all plastic ever created, only about 9% has been recycled, while 19% has been incinerated and a staggering 72% has been landfilled, openly burned, or leaked into the environment. Addressing this challenge requires accountability, innovation, and collective action.
Anchored by its mission to ensure that no plastic ends up in nature, PCX is taking responsibility for plastic waste and accelerating the Philippines’ transition toward a circular economy—one where plastic materials are recovered and recirculated through reuse, refurbishment, remanufacturing, and recycling. This work aligns closely with the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022 (Republic Act No. 11898), which mandates large companies to manage the post-consumer plastic packaging they introduce into the market.
Through PCX, Obliged Enterprises are able to meet these regulatory requirements by collecting and responsibly processing their plastic packaging waste. PCX Markets works in close coordination with PCX Solutions to deliver end-to-end EPR compliance support, covering footprint accounting, implementation, and reporting. This integrated approach empowers companies to build effective reduction and recovery strategies while ensuring full compliance with EPR Law standards.
The organizations that committed to achieving the equivalent of 100% plastic recovery for the 2025 compliance year include Beko Pilipinas Corporation, Century Pacific Food, Inc., Concepcion Durables, Inc., Concepcion Midea, Inc., Concepcion-Carrier Air Conditioning Company, Concepcion Industrial Corporation – Cortex Technologies Corporation, Domino’s Pizza Philippines, Generation Hope, Inc. (HOPE), General Odyssey, Inc., L’Oréal Philippines Inc., Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, Monde Nissin Corporation, Mondelez Philippines, Inc., Mr. DIY, The Pacific Meat Company Incorporated, and Wild Flour Bakery + Cafe Corp. Together, they model the level of leadership and accountability needed across the private sector to address plastic pollution at scale.
“The leaders we honored today show that responsible action is possible,” said Ms. Nanette Medved-Po, Founder and Executive Chair of HOPE and PCX. “When companies commit to verified recovery of 100% of their plastic footprint, we can turn the tide on plastic waste and create lasting impact for people and planet.”
PCX Markets supports these commitments through a comprehensive suite of plastic responsibility tools, including EPR compliance software, verified resins, and a transparent marketplace for verified plastic credits. These credits directly fund the collection, transport, and responsible processing of plastic waste, helping companies meet—and exceed—their recovery targets.
In 2024 alone, PCX Markets enabled the diversion of 160 million kilograms of plastic waste worldwide through 44 projects involving 238 companies across 14 countries, including the Philippines—demonstrating the scale and impact of coordinated plastic recovery efforts.
