To solve the climate crisis, we need to tackle plastic pollution

Plastic pollution and climate change are two interconnected crises that we must address together. Greenhouse gas emissions from plastic production are likely to hit 25% of the world's carbon budget by 2050. And the problem doesn't stop with production. As plastics break down, they release harmful gases and disrupt the ocean's ability to act as a carbon sink, exacerbating global warming.

Tackling plastic pollution and its climate impact requires a mix of solutions, including reducing single-use plastics, improving recycling and waste management systems, and promoting alternative materials. We also need to channel financing into emerging markets, which are at the centre of the plastic waste crisis.

PCX welcomes our first Australian project partner

We are excited to welcome our new project partner, who is tackling plastic waste from banana farms in Far North, Queensland.

Our project partner seeks to address the lack of collection or disposal of banana bunch bags in the region, which accounts for 95% of Australia's commercial banana production.

The project, which was an Australian first, helps preserve native habitats and plays a significant role in reducing the impact of plastic waste on the Great Barrier Reef.
